Microsoft Corporation Capacity Planner in Atlanta, Georgia

The Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) organization is seeking a Capacity Planner for our Datacenter (DC) Capacity Planning group. This role in the Capacity planning group supports our rapidly scaling global data center infrastructure supply, which supports the full spectrum of Microsoft products and services. This role sits at the nexus of multiple teams and is the catalyst for building the right DC supply, optimizing existing supply for the future balance of cost, technological shifts and available infrastructure.

  

This role will be responsible for analyzing new technology roadmaps including transitions in data center infrastructure design, hardware tech roadmap, server SKUs, exit strategy including decommissions and assessing the impact on demand and the future capacity plan. This is a unique role in that decisions about future data center planning are made at the inflection point of current DC supply, future designs coupled with the impact on cost and infrastructure lead-time-capacity. The right candidate will have analytical skills, ability to work well with ambiguity, proficient collaboration and partnership skills underlined with a foundation in financial concepts.

  

The role also requires deep expertise in supply strategy, total cost to serve (TCO), Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), statistical inventory management methods, advanced planning systems and methodologies, and IT infrastructure concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop critical principles to support new technology transitions, exit strategy/principles and develop analysis to support business decisions.

  • Prepare, present, and discuss data center capacity design strategies with leadership relating to cost, lead time, risk, and technical/operational constraints.

  • Develop execution plans and programmatically deliver across a diverse group of stakeholders.

  • Work across a diverse group of stakeholders to ensure we collaboratively improve, adapt, and adopt our processes and supporting software systems to support rapidly changing business requirements. 

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement data center supply planning improvements drawing on statistical methods, supply chain management principles and S&OP best practices.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 1+ year(s) supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field

  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 4+ years supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 2+ years supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Supply Planning IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $75,100 - $148,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $98,800 - $163,300 per year.
