Newell Brands Cybersecurity Specialist in Atlanta, Georgia

The Cyber Security Specialist reports to the Senior Manager of Security Operations and is responsible for identifying, categorizing, tracking, and helping to remediate threats and vulnerabilities in the Newell Brands global environment. The Specialist enables organizational improvement through:

  • Advocacy and implementation of Information Security (InfoSec) initiatives and deliverables

  • Collaboration across Newell’s IT environment to proactively protect information assets from unauthorized or inappropriate access, use, or disclosure

  • Providing effective "follow the sun" monitoring and response for security incidents and events

Responsibilities:

  • Support cyber security initiatives and the secure development, delivery, and ongoing security operations of Newell Brands cyber security program.

  • Proactively identify areas for improvement and lead projects to mature program capabilities.

  • Develop trusted relationships with stakeholders and support personnel across the organization including IT, Legal, HR, Privacy and Ethics.

  • Collaborate across IT and BU to ensure expertise, guidance and advice related to Cyber Security issues/technology projects is provided.

  • Responsible for supporting Security Operations functions including Threat and Vulnerability Management, Incident Response, Alerting, and Monitoring.

  • Develop an understanding of Newell Brands current and forward-looking threat profile.

  • Assist in developing/revising written documentation of procedures, processes, and work instructions.

  • Maintain and update KPI/Metrics meaningful to demonstrate process and organizational improvement vs. identified risks within the region.

  • Protect valuable information and maintain the confidentiality and integrity of data through knowledge of industry trends and current/emerging risks.

  • Regularly engage in the information security community to continually identify new threats and intelligence that may impact Newell Brands ability to protect systems and users.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information security, computer science, information management systems, or related field required.

  • 3+ years of experience in cyber security required, preferably in a Fortune 500 global environment.

  • Proven experience with cyber security technologies required.

  • Ability to demonstrate thorough understanding of security concepts.

  • Fundamental understanding of Internet protocols, services and technologies (e.g.: HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SMTP, SSH, LDAP, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, JSON, REST, etc.)

  • Common security controls (e.g., firewalls, proxies, IDS/IPS, WAF, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of network, OS, and application vulnerabilities and designing risk mitigations.

  • Experience in a SOC role:

  • Performing both endpoint and network-based investigations

  • Experience reviewing logs to identify evidence of past intrusions

  • Strong negotiation skills, capable of working in a fast-paced digital environment.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.

  • Appropriate security certifications preferred, particularly in multiple security domains.

  • GCIH, GSOC, GSEC, GSED, CISSP, GCFE, GCFA
