The Strategic Client Executive is responsible for the overall management of a book of Strategic Accounts in the 5,000+ customer segment. They are accountable for the maintenance, growth and increased profitability of existing business, the acquisition of new business, and the strategic direction of assigned accounts. Direct strategic, customer specific initiatives, which deliver "value added" services through the execution of client specific business plans. Coordinate and influence superior customer service delivery by developing and maintaining strong intercompany relationships.

If you reside in or near Charlotte NC, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Solid understanding of both fully-insured and self-funded marketplace and pricing disciplines

  • Establish and maintain "strong and appropriate" level relationships with customers and consultants; ensure UHG senior management has customer specific "board level" contacts

  • Develop and monitor client financial performance including renewal planning, negotiation and profitability levels

  • Detailed understanding of all UnitedHealthcare products, services and solutions

  • Ability to navigate UnitedHealthcare internal departments to produce positive results for clients and the company

  • Secure new business through marketing and effective product and service expansion

  • Demonstrate marketing and technical expertise through: Client, broker and consultant meetings

  • Assessment of approach, resources, and contacts needed to complete RFP's

  • Provide feedback to management on market trends as represented by our clients

  • Maintain a high level of healthcare industry knowledge as well as customer's industry

Required Qualifications:

  • Appropriate state insurance licenses or willing to obtain within 30 days

  • 6+ years of experience managing employee benefit accounts through consultants or as a consultant

  • 3+ years of experience in managing large National Accounts (5,000 lives+) in the insurance industry

  • Proven underwriting, financial and/or analytical skills

  • Demonstrated relationship management skills & proven track record of building, maintaining and cultivating client relationships

  • Proven superior customer service skills including a sense of urgency and ownership for resolving client issues

  • Proven skilled at articulating our value proposition to customers including the Clinical, and financial aspects of our business

  • Willing or ability to travel in the Southeast region from 25 - 50% depending on business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, visually, verbally, and in writing, and develop consensus among multiple stakeholders

  • Proven ability to easily flex between competing priorities in workload or change in deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven problem solver - can move quickly within UHG to solve customer issues

  • Proven detail orientated professional with strong organizational and leadership skills, self-directed

  • Proven skillful negotiator with a strategic vision for their accounts

  • Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills (internal/external) with the ability to build strong relationships with Senior level staff at large employer groups

  • Proven excellent group presentation and training skills
