*The Job *

  • A Satellite Trainee/Assistant will be trained extensively on CNN Satellite Systems to coordinate, access, book and troubleshoot global satellite, fiber, and IP driven transmissions to meet the needs of the CNN Newsgroups and Turner entities
  • To include, providing daily service request to CNN Affiliates by assigning satellite space and accessing uplinks

*The Day-to-Day *

  • Coordinating daily with established teleports, SNG trucks, Vendors, CNN Bureaus and portable flyaway systems
  • This position is part of a 24/7 working broadcast environment that will require a flexible working shift to include days, nights, weekends, overnights and some holidays
  • Candidate will be expected to work during breaking news emergency situations
  • A Satellite Trainee will spend a minimum of a year or more training extensively on satellite technology, computer systems used at CNN while following department procedures and becoming well equipped to service our clients

*The Essentials *

  • Minimum experience requires a broad knowledge of television production and engineering abilities. This is an entry-level position
  • Working knowledge of broadcast industry terms, procedures and equipment used
  • Prefer college degree with newsroom or industry related experience
  • A willingness to learn new technology
  • Must know how to prioritize and multi-task
  • Must possess excellent customer service and diplomatic skills
  • Must act proactively to meet client's needs
  • Must be well organized and have an extreme attention to detail
  • Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
