Duties: The Job: This Vice President/ Controller position within Turner's Accounting Business Services organization directs and leads the global accounting function and the overall preparation and presentation of accurate, timely, and relevant financial reporting and analysis for three functional areas/ teams: Programming, Production, and Marketing & Selling. The Programming team has oversight for programming assets, liabilities, and amortization expense related to originals, licensed series, and feature films across Turner's entertainment, animation, news, and international businesses. The Production team is responsible for original programming development expenses and related production assets/ liabilities across Turner's linear and digital businesses as well as live programming/ daily shows & events across news and sports properties. The Marketing & Selling team has oversight of advertising,selling, public relations, sports collaborative arrangements, NCAA Fan Fest, and Turner Studio expenses. Key Responsibilities include: - Provide leadership and strategic direction for a global team of 40+ professional accountants. Create a positive work environment that fosters team and individual performance and encourages innovation through continuous improvement. - Develop innovative ways to attract, retain and motivate exceptional talent that thrive in a dynamic business environment. - Continuously evaluate competing project prioritization and align resources & responsibilities across functional teams, Argentina shared services center, ABS & Fin. Business Services partners, Warner Media counterparts, and Finance/ Operations to ensure proper ownership and to maximize strengths and efficiency across the organization. - Guide ABS scalability by managing relationship between people, processes and technology to ensure continuous improvement and positive change that is impactful across ABS. - Implement strategies that balance high levels of client service while maintaining effective cost models in individual areas of responsibility. - Coordinate Internal and External Audits on an ongoing basis and manage the implementation of agreed upon recommendations/findings - Evaluate supporting evidence and discussions with senior leaders in establishing and validating judgmental accruals and reserves. -. Continuous evaluation of internal controls environment for adequacy and adherence to existing policies. - Lead the integration of new business into ABS. - Analyze Turner's financial position and report findings and recommendations to Senior Finance and Accounting Management, as well as Operations Executive Management across all Turner businesses. - Analyze and interpret complex accounting matters, issues, new contracts, etc.across all functional areas to determine appropriate accounting implications. - Position reports to VP & Group Controller, Record to Report- Operations Services
Qualifications: - Enthusiastic/high energy, collaborative, proactive, deadline-oriented - Significant experience with executing large, corporate transformational projects and initiatives. - Advanced knowledge of and experience with accounting principles and financial analysis. - Demonstrated ability to drive change as well as to innovate and improve processes. - A solid understanding of internal control concepts and the implementation of internal control systems in a complex business environment. - Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to present to and influence Senior Level executives. - High level of integrity, diplomacy, executive maturity, and professional presence. - Strong organization and decision-making skills; ability to strategically manage multiple high priority responsibilities and to align resources within team and across organization accordingly. Education and Experience: - 13+ years of accounting experience (industry or public). - 10+ years of experience in management role with demonstrated leadership and project management. - CPA strongly preferred. - Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (MBA or Masters a plus). - Experience in developing, implementing and/or working in a shared services environment a plus. - International experience a plus as well as experience managing diverse teams across multiple locations & functions.
