Boston Children’s Hospital’s is nearing completion of a major enterprise EHR system initiative (Project Mosaic) that will further strengthen the care we provide patients and families. Project Mosaic is a 18-month implementation of a new unified EHR platform consolidating two systems into Epic. This is the first of several initiatives including integration with affiliated organizations and early and frequent adoption of technology. Go-live is set for June 2024. This Ambulatory Epic Manager will lead a dynamic team through the completion of the implementation and into support mode for future success.

Responsible for:

  • Proactively engages with internal clients and stakeholders to understand current and future operational needs. Applies deep domain knowledge, a consultative approach and experience with EHRs across related applications to understand how best to address the business needs.

  • Manages and prioritizes workload and assignments of team members to meet business needs. Provides input into department goals. Ensures team has appropriate resources and highlights areas of need to manager for resolution. Regularly reports on the productivity, progress, and effectiveness of the team in comparison to established performance metrics.

  • Guides analysts through the design, build/configuration, testing, and deployment of the team’s core Epic applications, features, and integrations with other supported systems/applications. Performs advanced configuration (or customization, as necessary) to address business needs.

  • Manages implementation of application changes with third-party systems to ensure integration. Assesses or guides others in the assessment of significant integration requirements for the team’s core Epic applications. Identifies and recommends need for changes or customizations. Maintains, upgrades, and tests all third-party integrations.

  • Keeps abreast of how the application is being used in other organizations to identify opportunities for optimization, enhancements, etc. Proposes optimizations and enhancements.

  • Manages team’s efforts in support of upgrades. Coordinates with PM's to establish team’s deliverables for upgrade tasks and assigned release notes.

  • Establishes and maintains an open communication channel with staff. Facilitates team meetings to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end-users’ concerns and upcoming milestones. Serves in a lead role in presentations to senior leadership on key project updates, broad reaching Epic optimizations and issues, industry trends, etc.

  • Defines and communicates goals and expectations for staff, working with senior manager or director to ensure they support the broader process/operation. Provide technical guidance and direction to staff.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Epic certification in Epic Care Ambulatory

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred not required and 5+ years of experience in EHR application implementation and/or support, including responsibility for complex builds and integrations.

  • Experience managing multiple EHR applications through the full lifecycle of implementation to go-live to optimization
