Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Seasonal Invasive Species Technician in Cass Lake, Minnesota

Division: Resource Management Reports to: Botanist and Invasive Species Manager Worksite: LLDRM Compound, Cass Lake Work Hours: M-Th, 6:00am 4:30pm, but may vary LLBO Status: Non-exempt Safety Sensitive: No License/Certification Requirements: Valid MN Drivers License, current insurance or be insurable. Summary: Responsible for assisting the DRM Botanist or Crew Leader with a multitude of projects throughout the field season, in which many of these projects deal with the control of invasive species found within the Leech Lake Reservation and Chippewa National Forest. Duties/Responsibilities: Complete work and tasks in a timely manner as directed by the LLDRM Botanist or Crew Leader. Follow strict protocol for field work to ensure goals are being achieved. Travel to training workshops or partner events may be required. Online webinars may be required. Work under the direction of the Botanist and/or crew leader to implement a variety of control methods for invasive species (mechanical control, bio-control release, etc.). Assist in the implementation of habitat enhancement projects for plants and/or wildlife on the reservation. Always maintain confidentiality and professional ethics. Responsible for keeping work areas neat and orderly to maintain a safe working environment. Responsible for practicing workplace safety within the field and office always. Travel with crews on the reservation on a regular basis. Understanding and sensitive to Native American culture. Adhere to policies governing staff conduct. All other related duties as assigned.
