Compensation: $121,900 to $134,090 Work Schedule: 8:00-5:00 Monday through Friday (two remote day opportunities) General Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Legal Officer, or in his/her absence, the Deputy General Counsel, assist with providing legal support to the Executive Director and the various departments of the State Teachers Retirement System Ohio (STRS Ohio). Summary of Responsibilities: Provide advice and counsel to STRS Ohio management and staff in matters involving Information Technology, Public Governance, Communications, Finance and Building Services. Perform legal research and prepare responses to legal pleadings, subpoenas, documents, correspondence and public records requests. Draft, review and negotiate contracts in support of STRS Ohio operations including, but not limited to, Software as a Service (SaaS) agreements, hardware and maintenance agreements, platform agreements, cloud services contracts, construction contracts and independent contractor agreements. Maintain and update organizational template agreements, policies and other legal documents. Assist in the preparation and review of administrative code rules and the analysis of legislation. Summary of Requirements: Juris doctor degree and admission to the Ohio Bar required. Minimum of three years of relevant legal experience in transactional matters, information technology, tax, fiduciary and/or public body governance law (including Ohio Public Records Act). Experience with a law firm and/or in-house legal department preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex legal principles to non-legal professionals. Excellent research, analytical and organizational skills with an emphasis on problem solving and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail required. Ability to take direction and work independently but collaboratively in a collegial, team-oriented environment.
