Senior Director of Legacy Planning

Position Summary\ The University of Central Arkansas is seeking a dynamic and highly organized professional as its Senior Director of Legacy Planning. This position reports directly to the Associate Vice President of Campaign and Development and will be responsible for leading the Office of Legacy Planning and for designing and implementing planned giving fundraising strategies in support of the University of Central Arkansas mission and goals.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the Office of Legacy Planning and the Universitys comprehensive planned giving program
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors capable of making a deferred gift to the University. Manage a portfolio of prospects and generate 10-15 prospects visits per month leading to the growth in the number of completed major, planned, and blended gift solicitations. Local, regional, and limited national travel are required.
  • Serve as a member of the development team and as a resource to other Directors of Development on issues related to planned giving. Partner with Directors of Development in identifying planned giving prospects within their portfolios and collaborate with them on solicitation strategies.
  • Work with the Director of Campaign Communications to create comprehensive marketing strategies and proposals for planned giving and to prepare, as needed, planned giving materials including letters, newsletters, brochures, and articles forUCApublications.
  • Manage the Crescendo and FreeWill planned giving tools. Provide personalized illustrations of planned gifts for prospects as needed.
  • Monitor engagement and responses from online planned giving activity and research each to identify new planned giving prospects
  • Provide timely stewardship of assigned donors and prospects.
  • Track mature estate expectancies to ensure the preservation and timely distribution of all estate gifts to the University of Central Arkansas Foundation.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with financial, legal and tax advisors.
  • Keep up to date and be proficient with state and federal regulations for the charitable gift program.
  • In coordination with the Director of Donor Relations, coordinate activities and strategically increase membership in the Doyne Legacy Society.
  • Communicate closely with advancement services staff regarding information pertaining to major and planned gift prospects, including contact reports, proposal generation, gift acknowledgment and other data important for the maintenance of donor/prospect records.

  • Demonstrated ability to form and fully leverage cross-functional teams of colleagues, volunteers, and academic/University leaders toward closure of transformational gifts
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to speak and write effectively and persuasively; draft compelling proposals and letters
  • Exceptional professional interpersonal skills, including ability to accept input as well as supervisory guidance
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Ability to manage time well, particularly while managing competing priorities
  • Ability to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively and responsibly
