Open-Rank Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Counseling Psychology

The Department of Educational and Psychological Studies in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Miami is seeking outstanding research-active candidates for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position in our APA-accredited Counseling Psychology program. We invite applications from scholars with a strong commitment to research, teaching, service, and whose work has potential to make significant contributions to the field of Counseling Psychology. The successful applicant will have earned a Ph.D. in an APA-accredited program in Counseling Psychology.

We welcome applicants who have demonstrated a commitment to high-quality research consistent with rank. Candidates must be actively engaged in grant-funded research and demonstrate the ability to establish and sustain a rigorous research program. We are especially interested in candidates whose research, teaching, and service are grounded in an appreciation of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and who will maintain the high standards of excellence of the program.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses and advising students across our doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate programs, advising Ph.D. and Ed.D. dissertations, and providing service to the Program, Department, and University.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct innovative and impactful research in Counseling Psychology.

  • Publish research findings in top-tier peer-reviewed journals.

  • Secure external research funding.

  • Teach graduate courses in the master’s program in Mental Health Counseling and the doctoral program in Counseling Psychology.

  • Teach in the undergraduate programs in Community and Applied Psychological Studies and/or Data Analytics and Intelligence for Social Impact.

  • Mentor and advise graduate students.

  • Participate in departmental and university service activities.

  • Contribute to the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the department and university.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in counseling psychology or a closely related field earned by August 2024.

  • Experience in graduate teaching, specifically experience teaching practitioner-oriented doctoral students.

  • Experience advising and mentoring graduate students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in equity and inclusion, antiracism, and/or minority-serving institutions.

  • Research and teaching experience with qualitative methods.
