GuideOne Insurance Sr. Paralegal- Hybrid Opportunity in IA, United States

As the Sr. Paralegal, you will be responsible for performing a variety of clerical and complex tasks while building and maintaining client rapport. To be successful in this position, you will need to be a self-starter, flexible with multiple work-styles, and have 4 years of in-depth experience with legal documents and protocol. You will use prior experience and judgment to plan and prioritize work load and will work under the general supervision of individual attorneys. Responsibilities:

  • Performs substantive paraprofessional and administrative support to the Company’s staff litigation counsel.

  • Drafts, dates, signs, faxes, mails, files, serves original legal documents, correspondence, motions, discovery, and pleadings.

  • Creates templates as necessary.

  • Creates medical expense summaries and chronologies.

  • Summarizes depositions, interrogatories, testimony.

  • Maintains attorney dockets.

  • Updates and maintains procedure manuals.

  • Contacts, follows-up, schedules, calendars.

  • May train/mentor incoming paralegals to the department.

  • Additional related duties assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or paralegal certification, plus four (4) years of related work experience in the legal field.

  • Paralegal certification preferred.

  • Two or more years law office experience is a plus, preferably in a multi-state jurisdiction.

  • Demonstrates the ability to use commonly-used administrative concepts, practices and procedures in the insurance industry.

  • This individual is either qualified by education, training or work experience and is very comfortable with both the state and federal rules of civil procedure.

    Recommended Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Communicate clear, concise information to others, using oral or written communication techniques

  • Complete formal training plan and assignments as required.
