Dairyland Power Cooperative Mail Processing Technician in La Crosse, Wisconsin

The Mail Processing Technician will assist with the operations of Powered Printing and mail processing. Primary duties include operation of printing, bindery, inserting and other equipment to print and process external client billings and other mailing projects. Other duties mail collection and distribution, office supplies inventory and distribution, and all other related services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

Essential Job Functions for Billable Services :

  • Responsible for the operation of the inserting equipment to process external client mailings. Program and configure inserters. Verify all job elements are correct for each mailing, including statements, inserts, envelopes, postage, dates, indicia, and documentation.

  • Complete project/billing forms for billable mailings with accurate postage, counts, supplies used and billable labor hours. Record processed job details on departmental project log and record billable hours on timesheets.

  • Operate production inkjet printers. Verify and select jobs, load paper and forms and print client billings and other projects.

  • Responsible for cleaning and daily maintenance of equipment and machinery, including (but not limited to) inserters, inkjet printers, ink jet addressing machine, tabber, strapper, postage machine and UPS equipment.

  • Prepare and process mail pieces for client miscellaneous bulk mailings. Print addresses using inkjet addressing machine. Follow job description details and complete projects requirements listed on mail project forms.

  • Sort, bundle and prepare mailing to meet postal regulations and deliver to the Post Office.

  • Operate folder, collator, paper cutter, perforating machine, in addition to various other equipment.

Essential Job Functions for Dairyland Internal Mail Services :

  • Daily collection, sorting and distribution of Dairyland (DPC) incoming and interoffice mail for Administration building and the Service Center. Process outgoing mail and packages on postage meter equipment and prepare mail for delivery to all DPC plants and Distribution Cooperatives. Maintain database and mailing labels for cooperatives and outlying employees.

  • Process outgoing UPS and overnight packages for staff. Process electronic UPS shipping record logs and prepare packages for daily pick up. Keep accurate record of charges and assign appropriate cost centers and approve vendor invoices. Collect payment for employee personal packages. Pick up daily incoming UPS parcels from the warehouse and distribute to Administration building staff.

  • Provide messenger services such as, pick up and delivery to post office, bank, and local vendors. Make two daily runs to the Service Center for delivery and collection of mail, office and cafeteria supplies.

  • Responsible for ordering, inventory and distribution of office, computer and related supplies. Request bids and negotiate pricing with vendors. Purchase miscellaneous items with company issued credit card. Approve related invoices for payment.

  • Maintain accurate records of postage usage, office supply purchases and other related expenses. Resolve discrepancies with vendors.

  • Assist print shop with projects as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education & Experience : High School Diploma. Prefer post high school printing or other business-related diploma or degree.

Skills : Must possess basic math and computer skills. Mechanical aptitude with workable knowledge of basic mechanics and tools required. Prefer experience on mail processing equipment. Knowledge of Postal Regulations desired. Must have strong attention to detail.

Licenses and Certifications : Valid Driver’s License and must obtain DOT medical certificate within 30 days of employment.

Physical Demands : Operate inserters, postage machine, UPS equipment, addressing machines, PC/printer, production inkjet printer, calculator and copy and fax machines. Manipulation of hand tools, mail, packages, boxes of envelopes, trays of inserts, mail trays, carts and dollies. Requires standing, walking, crouching, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting upper body, bending, and reaching. Regularly required to lift up to 50 lbs. Occasionally lifting 70 lbs.

Environmental Demands : Works primarily indoors. Frequently works in extreme noise. Occasionally works around cleaning solutions and mechanical and electrical hazards. Work outdoors when loading or delivering mail as well as performing errand runs. Load and unload department van in variable weather conditions.

Other Job Characteristics : Overtime may be required in order to meet deadlines. Must not be colorblind.
