Amentum Inventory Coordinator/Procurement in Lafayette, Indiana

Amentum is seeking an Inventory coordinator/Procurement professional for our 1st Shift industrial maintenance team in Lafayette, IN!

  • Typical work schedule is 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM; hours may vary based on business demand.

  • This position will require some overtime, particularly during seasonal peaks in purchasing or machine down situation.

The inventory coordinator/procurement professional performs administrative functions associated with procurement of goods and services, coordination of services, administration of documentation, and invoice reconciliation.

Support the purchase order requisition process:

  • Support new vendor setups, requests for pricing and additional information.

  • Coordinate and schedule the facilities soft services including pest control, lawn care, life safety services, etc.

  • Monitor completion of services to satisfaction of local customer.

In addition, this position performs purchasing, receiving and inventory control tasks to support our spare parts for maintenance team, which may include:

  • Maintaining files of requisitions, receiving reports and related inventory documents.

  • Maintaining list of critical spares for critical assets.

  • Maintaining records of on-hand inventory, performs cycle counts, verifies physical inventory accuracy, and performs database updates.

  • Ensures proper identification of received goods and their storage locations.

  • Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills , particularly in written communication, as well as good organizational skills and sound judgement.

  • Experience in one or more of the areas of purchasing, expediting and integrated supply is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Parts order, tracking, follow up with vendor.

  • Obtain price estimate from vendors for parts and services.

  • Coordinate requests for contracted services with Procurement, the appropriate Supervisor, Lead, and client

  • Support pricing, and vendor sourcing functions.

  • Support the purchase order requisition process.

  • Support/assist the development of team and vendor performance measurements and metrics.

  • Serve as back up for chemical ordering.

  • Effectively utilize company cornerstone software applications related to procurement.

  • Understand company policies and enforce safety regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

  • Serve as back-up to chemical focal for ordering chemicals

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in a materials management, procurement, purchasing, or related role in a business environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office software, particularly MS Excel (including the ability to create performance metrics, charts, etc).

  • Experience in one or more of the areas of purchasing, expediting and integrated supply.

Additional Information:

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

  • This position may require a valid Driver’s License.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

  • This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.

  • This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Physical Requirements:

  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

  • Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.

  • Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.

  • Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other Amentum, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.

  • Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.

  • Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.

  • Extensive experience with Excel, including the ability to create spreadsheets, use pivot tables, track data, generate reports, etc.

  • Requires some moving of light to medium weight materials into various storage locations: vertical storage drawers, pallet racking, desks, and other storage locations.

  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

  • Ability to utilize pallet jack and other material handling equipment.

Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

  • Familiarity with facilities equipment descriptors such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.

  • Experience working in purchasing or subcontracting in a manufacturing, maintenance, or a related service field.

  • Experience with CMMS.

  • Experience overseeing storeroom operations.

  • Experience streamlining and improving inventory practices.

Other Attributes:

  • Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
