About The Role Reporting to the Vice President of Global Labor & Employment Law, you will provide labor & employment legal support to KBR’s businesses primarily in the UK, with support in the rest of EMEA as well as APAC on an as needed basis. You will partner with the People team and various business stakeholders to provide practical advice on a broad range of employment law issues (dispute and non-dispute), including all aspects of the employment relationship.

About You Accountability: You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of labor and employment issues that arise within the business while also helping drive the overall strategy of the Labor & Employment function by proactively assessing and managing risk. Collaboration: You will need to be comfortable working with a wide variety of departments and personalities on matters of sensitivity. You will need to be keen to collaborate and build and maintain strong relationships and partnerships. Adaptability: You will need to learn on the fly and be comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment. Whether you are responding to time-sensitive requests from the business, presenting to leadership, or facing a deadline, you are rarely flustered, always professional and polished in your approach. Business Acumen and Financial Awareness: You will continuously assess the needs of the business as you assist in navigating labor and employment challenges with them. Specific Duties, Responsibilities And Requirements Include

  • As a trusted advisor, provide expert labor & employment law advice and counseling to our People team and other stakeholders on a broad range of issues, including recruiting, hiring practices, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence, accommodations, terminations, internal investigations, compensation, workplace harassment, benefits, privacy, and immigration.

  • Collaborate in the drafting, reviewing, and updating of employment contracts, localized handbooks, offer letters, compensation plans and other policies as needed to ensure they align with current laws and best practices.

  • Use your UK and global employment law expertise and sound judgment to inform KBR’s global employment policies and practices, while balancing legal compliance, best practices and the company’s business needs.

  • Oversee and/or provide support regarding employment-related litigation, claims, charges, investigations, audits, and subpoenas.

  • Advise on employment-related privacy issues.

  • Keep abreast of developments in employment law globally and advise on potential impacts to the business.

  • Help to implement employment best practices by leading strategic employment law projects, such creating and leading trainings on global employment requirements and best practices.

    Experience & Skills

  • UK employment law experience in private practice with a highly regarded international law firm and/or a global corporate legal department.

  • Global employment law experience required.

  • Proven ability navigating UK employment law issues, including experience with tribunals, ACAS, legal consultation obligations, global investigations, global mobility issues, and HR compliance issues

  • E xperience handling employment litigation matters, including retaining and managing outside counsel to ensure that all aspects of the company's legal representation are of the highest quality, and representing multi-national companies involved in employment disputes with successful outcomes

  • Demonstrated judgment, personal integrity, and interpersonal skills. Strong ability to work as a team player who can effectively collaborate with colleagues from the global Legal team and business stakeholders

  • Familiar with ediscovery tools and processes.

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate complex issues and provide practical, business focused legal advice.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate and interact effectively at all levels and across all functions within an organization and the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and succinctly.

  • Proficient in use of business tools such as Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office products, OneDrive, Sharepoint, etc.

  • Successful organizational, leadership and people management skills

  • Self-driven, operates with a sense of urgency and resourcefulness.

  • Foreign language skills a plus
