Purpose of Job

The Analyst will be expected to use a broad range of analytical and research skills to support all of the professionals within the Corporate Banking group, in executing mandates to support and widen client relationships in the Project Finance and Infrastructure sectors in Europe.

Main Objectives & Requirements of the Role

  • Assist in executing all facets of the group’s mandates

  • Assist with the review of due diligence materials and legal documentation including the co-ordination of questions / comments and interface with external independent advisers (e.g., technical, commercial, financial, insurance and legal).

  • Assist more senior colleagues in preparing detailed documents including business proposals, memoranda, credit and business approval requests, loan recommendations, and company information documents and reports for various purposes.

  • Assist with preparation of presentations as and when required. Liaising with colleagues from across the Bank (e.g., Investment Banking, Debt Capital Markets and Trading Floor) to co-ordinate and prepare ad hoc pitch books.

  • Prepare amendment and waiver requests and undertake annual reviews for existing Borrowers.

  • Responsible for both quantitative and qualitative client analysis and industry research.

  • Maintain group’s databases on a current basis including electronic records and regular administrative reports.

  • Responsible for defined internal processes, including generating internal credit ratings, assessing deals economics and KYC/compliance.

  • Establish peer network across the Bank to ensure inter-departmental collaboration and gather relevant information. Over time, attend investor presentation days and client meetings supporting more senior colleagues.

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Undergraduate degree preferably (but not essential) in finance, economics, engineering or another complementary discipline.

  • Ideally some familiarity with constructing and interrogating financial models to facilitate a keen understanding of the business and financial proposition as well as over time being able to run downside sensitivities as part of the credit analysis process.

  • Knowledge of business, accounting, economics and/or finance acquired through education or experience.

  • Strong technical skills and computer literacy (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg).

  • Service oriented approach when dealing with colleagues and product partners internally and clients and advisers externally.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, including the ability to clearly and succinctly explain results of detailed analyses. As experience grows, defend recommendations to internal business and credit committees.

  • The ability to perform well within a demanding and dynamic team environment.

  • Proactive attitude and good ability to multi-task between diverse types of work from written to financial modelling as well as across different clients and sectors/ businesses.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the assessment of unstructured problems.

  • Superior analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Output driven with attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability.

  • A proven academic track record.
