About the Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.

Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.

Jacobs are seeking a BIM Lead to provide technical and management leadership to the implementation of BIM standards, procedures, workflows and roles for 3D model specification, federation & coordination, review & approval and exploitation within the Civil Works Programme (CWP) scope, ensuring that appropriate requirements are implemented into contracts with design and construction T1 suppliers. Key responsibilities will be:

  • Implementing BIM standards and 2D and 3D model requirements for Tier 1 contracts and specification for object data within the delivery organisation

  • Definition of roles, responsibilities, management protocols and tools for federation, coordination, and exploitation of 3D models within the programme

  • Support definition of model mgmt. requirements for RD and other interfacing organisations

  • Supporting definition and implementation of specialist workflows for review & acceptance of 3D models from a wide range of execution designers, for change management within client joint design office and for as-built 3D management

  • Providing digital delivery support across design and construction delivery processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements, paperless delivery and BIM upskilling of relevant functions within the programme

  • Identifying, recommending, and informing configuration of digital tools for effective model management to enable downstream processes such as design progress and quality monitoring, accurate quantification, 4D planning, setting out from the models

  • Interfacing with SZC GIS Manager to align spatial and survey management standards, tools and protocols for CWP

  • Interfacing with supplier BIM Leads to define digital delivery expectations for Tier 1 design and construction delivery

  • Overseeing review and acceptance processes and quality checking workflows for BIM deliverables within the CWP programme

  • Performing audit of compliance with BIM standards and templates within CWP programmes

  • Support Business Architecture, Information Management and IT delivery teams with specialist advice and inputs into 3D models replication from HPC, assisting with IFC export schema creation, creating strategic advice and roadmaps for the implementation and maintenance of BIM solutions

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Experience in establishing and managing BIM and digital engineering capabilities within complex infrastructure programme and asset intensive industries

  • Knowledge in model-based design management, (3D model checking, model federation, clash detection), and implementation of BS1192/ISO19650 workflows within the design and construction delivery processes

  • Good understanding of configuration management principles and processes and appreciation of challenges related to replication of deliverables from one project to another

  • Ability to define and map processes and develop procedures and guidance material

  • Awareness of commercial and contractual implications of information requirements and change control

  • Excellent understanding of infrastructure project delivery processes and challenges

  • Strong business analytics and problem solving

  • Experience using authoring software such as Revit, Bentley suite, Civils3D, Tekla and PDMS

  • Ideally experienced in the use of shared 3D model authoring platforms & enterprise solutions

  • Understanding of interoperability challenges and exchange schemas

  • Experience in defining agenda and chairing effective BIM related workshops and meetings

  • Confident leading workstreams and working as part of a team
