WestRock Company Planning Superintendent in Longview, Washington

The opportunity:

The Planning Superintendent manages and is responsible for the Mil’s planned maintenance activities. The objective is to continually improve the performance, availability, and reliability of mill production equipment. The Planning Superintendent will ensure and deliver complete, safe, and accurate planned work packages for the maintenance crews for effective precision maintenance repairs. The Planning Superintendent reports directly to the mill Maintenance Manager.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Lead safety systems and processes that support achieving our continually improving annual goals.

  • Develops and manages the mill’s maintenance budget, including supporting cost tracking and providing routine and long rate maintenance spend forecasting. This position also plays an instrumental role in identifying scheduling opportunities and cost reduction opportunities to improve the mill cost competitiveness. Collaboratively manages costs to meet mill maintenance budgeted spend.

  • Develops action plans to address maintenance inefficiencies and repeat equipment failures.

  • Coordinates routine work, minor outages, annual and multi-year cold mill outage planning efforts.

  • Facilitates improvement projects within the operating area focusing on maintenance objectives.

  • Interfaces with all operating departments.

  • Supports RCA efforts and reliability projects to ensure efficient facility operation.

  • Improve efficiency and effectiveness of the planning department by analyzing the processes and utilizing all available tools, technology, and outside resources. This includes developing and managing KPI’s to ensure that the planning department is effectively providing complete work packages and job plans.

  • Works closely with supervisors and superintendents to improve PM’s in the mill.

  • Ensures activities follow mill, company, state, and federal policies and guidelines as it relates to the safety of employees and the execution of work.

  • Invests and develops department members to operate at their full potential. Leads behaviors within organizational boundaries to maintain a culture embedded in professionalism, customer satisfaction, employee engagement, respect, and trust.

  • Completes other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred or related field with 7+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience within the paperboard industry preferred.

  • Supervisory or management experience is preferred.

Compensation Offered

  • Pay (or pay range): $112,875 - $188,125 DOE (Junior, Intermediate, Senior levels)

  • Bonus/Commission Eligible: Yearly Short-Term Incentive Program (STIP) Bonus based off metrics
