JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking an outstanding candidate to lead the department\'s biostatistical core. The biostatistical core aims to provide the department with high quality statistical and programming expertise across all types of research, with an emphasis on collaborative, ethical, and reproducible research to advance healthcare innovation. The department is reshaping the core to meet changing needs in the department, and the successful candidate will lead this initiative. This role will include the potential opportunity to manage a core of biostatisticians and programmers that support surgical research across a wide range of clinical specialties. The Data Coordinating Center of the Surgical Collaborative of Wisconsin will also sit within this quantitative core. The successful candidate will also serve as a Core Investigator with the Wisconsin Surgical Outcomes Research Program (WiSOR), where they will collaborate closely with investigators and apply statistical expertise to a wide range of health services research studies. WiSOR is a vibrant health services research program within the Department of Surgery with approximately 20 faculty and 25 research staff. WiSOR faculty and staff enjoy a collaborative work environment, ample opportunities for professional development, and a hybrid office-remote workplace. All research areas of clinical biostatistics will be considered; applicants with experience in clinical trial design and analysis for behavioral interventions are especially encouraged to apply. We are looking for candidates with a successful record of research experience and collaboration as demonstrated through training, publication, and writing successful grant proposals. It is expected that the selected finalist will establish collaborations on externally funded research. The successful candidate will also have a track record of building and leading a team. This position allows the opportunity to develop novel biostatistical methodology and will have a joint appointment with the Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics.
