Google Software Engineer, Android in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience in software development and with data structures/algorithms.

  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

  • Experience with mobile application development or Android framework development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience of Android application development.

  • Experience with Android input framework, keyboard development, or mobile applications on android platform.

  • Experience building applications and APIs.

  • Experience in Kotlin.

  • Experience with Modern Android Development and Jetpack Compose.

  • Familiarity with Android and Chrome ecosystems as an end-user and as a developer.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for several high impact/visible product deliveries in the Android framework. You will work closely with essentially all of the Product teams (Pixel, TV, Wear, etc.), App teams (Chrome, YouTube, Camera, GMail, Meet, etc.), and external partners/app developers on every release of Android in designing and implementing Android Framework features required for their use cases.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Own the roadmap, implementation, and delivery for critical features on Android for devices like Foldables, Tablets, and more.

  • Design and implement new features and capabilities. Design and build system-level windowing framework functionality to support new features and capabilities across multiple API surfaces.

  • Give developers the APIs and tools they need to create polished applications for Large Screen and Foldable devices.

  • Provide guidance on practical application development.

  • Work with hardware product teams to ship the next generation of Google and Android devices.
