*The Job *

  • The CNN Digital Research Manager is within CNN's Ad Sales Research team and plays a vital strategic role as a collaborator and partner with Ad Sales and Content Partnerships departments
  • This position will help create data-driven insights that support the CNN Ad Sales team in proving that CNN Digital properties, including CNN.com, CNN apps, OTT (over the top devices), Great Big Story, are the most effective advertising vehicles for reaching advertisers' objectives
  • Reporting to the Director, Digital Ad Sales Research, this individual will work on creating narratives using syndicated and primary research specifically for CNN Digital * The Day-to-Day *

  • Own research projects from inception to dissemination, including presentation of findings through storytelling for new and existing clients

  • Work alongside Director to manage ad effectiveness solutions, including brand studies, foot traffic, and sales lift measurement
  • Proactively research and track competitive trends and look outward for new ideas and industry trends
  • Manage the day-to-day production and release of research and insights in support of RFIs and RFPs, for CNN Digital properties and Great Big Story Partner with various teams to implement measurement and research studies
  • Build and enhance key relationships with internal and external clients as well as 3rd party research firms and data providers
  • Manage and mentor analyst(s); including hiring, on-going training and development, providing guidance, coaching and providing feedback
  • Interact with direct reports and peers in management, customers, vendors to interpret information, maintain and improve cross-functional processes and programs * The Essentials *

  • 5+ years of experience, including digital, cross media and/or direct-to-consumer research experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred; Communications, media, marketing or mathematics degree preferred
  • A solid understanding and routine use of software applications that extracts data (i.e. Adobe, comScore, Nielsen, MRI, Ipsos, YouGov)
  • Solid knowledge and experience with various ad effectiveness methodologies and vendors (i.e. Millward Brown Digital, Research Now, Nielsen)
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel. Familiarity with PowerPoint. Pivot Tables and Macros are a plus
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to explain the logic behind their solutions in a clear and concise manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present insights and recommendations persuasively, in a compelling, easy to understand manner * The Perks *
