We’re seeking a Producer for social media to join MSNBC Digital. 

You have experience managing producers and demonstrable experience identifying and producing shareable/viral news and perspective content. You can pitch unique story ideas and create short original videos catered to each social platform’s audience. You have a passion for news, politics, current events and know what stories spark engagement for each social platform’s audience. A social media expert with strong knowledge of all platforms, their audiences and social media trends.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee editorial for associate producer and production assistants 

  • Identify and produce shareable news content for social media platforms 

  • Write and produce perspective segments / interviews for YouTube 

  • Lead associate producer and production assistants on breaking news for platforms

  • Produce editorial content for multiple platforms (video, text, photo)

  • Fact-check text, captions and ensure all photo, video meet the content, quality, journalistic and legal standards of MSNBC 

  • Write eye-catching and accurate headlines and captions that spark engagement 

  • Create and produce graphics and photo posts with headlines for Instagram 

  • Partner and collaborate with show producers on daily editorial content for platforms   

  • Collaborate across teams on special events, high profile interviews for strategic social rollouts

PLEASE NOTE: the shift for this role is is Tuesday – Saturday,  2pm to 10pm (Hybrid 3 days in office)

Qualifications / Experience:

  • At least 6 years experience in social media news production 

  • At least two years of political producing/writing experience 

  • Expert knowledge of all social media platforms, their audiences and social media trends 

  • Experience in shooting content, editing and producing in a compelling creative way 

  • Experience writing for TV (news and perspective)

  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere, in-app editing, CapCut 

  • Demonstrable experience producing eye-catching graphics

  • Strong production vision - ability to envision a segment or package and turn it into reality with social engagement

  • Demonstrable content producing with creative devices that stand out 

  • Experience in turning breaking news vertical content for social platforms

  • Create and produce graphics, photos with headlines for Instagram (expert with Figma, Adobe Photoshop) 

  • Self-starter - ability to enterprise ideas, ideate daily pitches, shoot video when needed, and work well independently.

  • Work professionally in changing and challenging situations and be able to react quickly under rapid deadlines 

  • Proficiency with digital gear (camera operations, microphones) 

  • Have a good attitude (eager, cooperative, energetic, team-oriented)

  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours and different shifts for breaking news (evenings. weekends)
