Paxos Trust Company Regulatory Counsel in New York, New York

Paxos Trust Company, LLC seeks Regulatory Counsel in New York, NY.Duties:• Analyze laws and regulations in the US and foreign jurisdictions to support development of business opportunities in an area of law that is rapidly developing.• Create templates, playbooks, and other collateral to help Paxos scale internationally.• Support maintenance of existing licenses, and application processes to obtain new licenses or regulatory approvals including but not limited to Limited Purpose Trust Charter from NYDFS; money transmitter licenses throughout the 50 states; international licenses pertaining to digitalasset business activity.• Support and manage supervisory regulatory relationships, including day-to-day regulator relationship management.• Provide advice and counsel to Growth team in connection with new licensing efforts in the US and abroad.• Provide day-to-day general counsel to Marketing team, including review of marketing materials and publications.• Conduct new employee training sessions on the obligations of the regulated entity, Paxos regulatory stack and its implications for the different roles throughout the organization.• Provide advice and counsel to Growth team in connection with new clients, jurisdictions, and features.• Provide advice and counsel to Product team in connection with new product development.Requires a JD, LLM, or foreign equivalent plus 4 years of experience.Requires 4 years of experience with:• Attorney law firm experience, in a litigation, financial services or regulatory group• Regulatory matters related to domestic and cross-border issues, including securities, anti-bribery, and anti-money laundering laws.Requires 3 years of experience with:• Regulatory legal analysis and advisory in the crypto and blockchain industry, including foreign jurisdictions.• Represented and worked with cross-functional teams (finance, operations, trading, legal, etc) of clients (internal or external)• LATAM markets and its legal and regulatory requirements & issues• Communicating and negotiating with US regulators such as SEC and DOJMust be admitted to practice law in at least one state in the United States.Telecommuting permitted.Requires 5% domestic travel throughout the U.S40 hours/week, $220,000 - $260,000 per year.
