Job Title: Manager: Technical Planning

Salary: £39,000 - £48,000 (Depending on Experience)

Location : Peterborough

About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Caterpillar’s company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future.

ATF is our engine manufacturing plant, where we Assemble, Test and Finish our engines. This includes a wide variety of manufacturing assembly processes, including leak test, hot engine test, painting and an extensive range of assembly controls. The facility consists of 4 assembly tracks, 3 hot test facilities and 6 finish facilities where we final dress the and finish paint the engines.

Job Summary

An exciting position is available within the Assembly, Test and Finish Facility, reporting to the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering Manager. This role will be to lead a team of process planners.

The successful candidate for this position will be a dedicated, self-motivated individual who will work in a highly responsive production environment. They will lead a team of skilled individuals who are responsible for the creation and maintenance of Standard Work Instructions and Bill of Process, creation and maintenance of plant layouts in Teamcenter and creation of visual aids and manufacturing fitting instructions.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership skills in a fast-paced production environment whilst allowing you to leave a legacy of process improvement. You will build your knowledge within Team Centre and operational processes whilst also supporting your team to learn and develop.

Additional Info :

Hybrid work pattern of 3 days in the facility and 2 from home.

What You Will Do:

  • Support and guide team of at least 6 through any technical issues regarding Process Planning

  • Lead and support business projects, working with cross-functional teams

  • Develop team skills within Process Planning

  • Work within Teamcenter, MFGpro and MES

  • Support resolution to internal and external quality issues

  • Standard Work Instruction and process owner of Team Processes, Plugging and Masking, MAPs Changes, Standard Work, Routings

  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineer and Operations team to support any process changes

  • Continually drive process improvements within work area

The top candidates for this role will display one or both of the following: -

  • Strong leadership experience, demonstrating process improvement and team development

  • An in-depth knowledge of process planning and operational documentation, either within MFGPro or Teamcenter
