Description Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting to fill a Cost Accountant role for a manufacturing company located in Reno. This is an ideal role for a Staff Accountant who is interested in learning cost accounting, fixed asset accounting and inventory. The role will include responsibilities such as costing, financial analysis on CapEx projects, cost savings projects, expense management, and other initiatives. In addition, this role will support the Accounting Supervisor with financial forecasting and budgeting for the strategic decision-making across the organization.

Day to Day functions include:

• Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle count and develop process to ensure obsolete inventory has adequate provisions.

• Validate cost of goods sold as part of the month end close.

• Review standard costs and actual costs for inaccuracies.

• Calculate monthly detail of all manufacturing variances and report issues to Production VP/CFO in a timely manner.

• Undertake capital evaluations for new projects and fixed asset control

• Assist in the company’s monthly, quarterly and yearly closing.

• Work with CFO and Accounting Supervisor to support the company forecasting activities and annual budgeting process.

• Implement automation throughout the Accounting departments to improve accuracy and efficiency.

• Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and reports as needed to support decision-making.

• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a BS Degree in Accounting (required) as well as 3+ years of experience in accounting. Cost Accounting experience is a huge plus, but not required. Microsoft Excel experience at an intermediate level (If Statements, Pivots, Look Ups) is required. The position reports to a tenured Accounting Supervisor and will have the opportunity to learn from a willing trainer/mentor. The company offers competitive compensation and benefits. • Proficient in Cost Accounting and Cost Analysis

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Experience in Financial Analysis

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Cost Accounting or GL Accounting

• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
