Key job responsibilities

We’re looking for a talented attorney to help support our rapidly evolving Books businesses. In this role, you will work directly with the business, provide day-to-day and strategic advice on a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters and products, and structure, draft, and negotiate a variety of transactions. Some travel, domestic and international, may be required.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Seattle, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school and membership in at least one state bar

  • At least 2 full years of attorney experience at a law firm

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, written and oral communication, and client interaction skills

  • Significant experience drafting transactional documents

  • Ability to demonstrate sound legal and business judgment even in ambiguous situations

  • Ability to work independently and also contribute successfully to cross-functional teams

  • Ability to work well with people at all levels inside and outside Amazon

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, and meet deadlines

  • Strong client-service and customer orientation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
