Amazon Sr. Financial Analyst, BEATS in Seattle, Washington

Business, Electronics, Automotive, Technology & Solutions (BEATS) Finance is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. This is an exciting opportunity to create and innovate on behalf of stakeholders across a wide-range of business categories.

The Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with a variety of stakeholders, including the BEATS business and finance leadership teams, retail finance category controllers, business partners within category management and supply chain, and other FP&A teams across the Amazon Consumer business.

The successful candidate will have experience working in high visibility roles and be comfortable presenting to senior leadership. This role requires a self-starter with excellent business modeling skills, a keen attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver under tight timelines, and strong track record of influencing decisions using data. Additionally, communication skills are a must as the role requires regular interaction with various business units across Amazon.

Key job responsibilities

  • Perform recurring financial reporting, ad-hoc project analyses, and financial modeling using a broad range of tools including MS Excel and SQL

  • Drive core financial processes for the category including Annual Operating Plan, long range Strategic Plan, and Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews

  • Influence business decisions with effective verbal and written communication, data driven analysis and modeling, and presentation of options and alternatives

  • Facilitate financial review meetings with business groups and work with business managers to ensure effective finance and cost management

  • Identifies opportunities to resolve defects proactively. Improves, scales, or simplifies finance tools across teams and organizations

  • Work with data source providers and technology teams to ensure that key data is timely and accurate

  • Recommend, develop, and implement processes that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its profitability

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)

  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • 3+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience

  • 3+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience

  • 3+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience

  • 3+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $56,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
