The Role

We are the industry leaders in cruise travel and as part of your goal to create unforgettable holiday happiness for our guests, Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding supports all of our nine brands throughout the whole building process from business opportunity to post delivery support while proactively developing our fleet towards a more sustainable future.

As part of our new agile project based structure we have an exciting new role of Technologies & Innovation Senior Director. This is a senior role in Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding with overall accountability for the successful completion to quality, time, budget of the development and integration of technology upgrades and innovation into new shipbuilding projects, matching the corporation’s financial and sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead representative for complex innovation projects, this role will energise all innovation initiatives by driving collaboration with key industry and corporation stakeholders as well as other Corporate Shipbuilding stakeholders. Defining and shaping the strategy for technology upgrades and innovation, all along the Technical Readiness Level (TRL) development chain, from concept, proven concept and further integration on the corporation’s existing fleet or newbuild project.

  • As the lead of multi-discipline matrix project teams, this role provides direction and ensures smooth operations, high-quality deliverables, adherence to project timelines and budgets aligned with the overall organisational goals.

  • Harnesses the interest from colleagues to look for creative solutions for shipbuilding long-term and elevate them; takes ownership of gathering ideas from across the business from stakeholders at all levels to collect and analyse insight which will be shared further.

  • Working alongside the Chapter Leads, encourage chapter members to ‘Speak Up’ on their ideas, staying up to speed on developments in their area. The role will be creating opportunities where people share their thinking, as well as ensuring a feedback system to keep momentum.

  • Collaborating with other Corporate Shipbuilding key stakeholders, championing continuous improvements into the technology upgrades and innovation processes for the corporation, and driving the strategy that will take the function and subsequently Corporate Shipbuilding towards the vision of innovative and sustainable cruising.

Our role categories range from CSS15 (entry level) to CSS01 (Senior Vice President) so you can clearly see internal development opportunities. This role is a CCS04 and is offered on a full time, permanent/ basis.

About You

Fresh ideas and different perspectives are what excite us most and help us to succeed. Alongside bringing these to the role, you’ll also need:

  • Degree in specialist area/ chartered engineer/ relevant equivalent experience at sea

  • Qualified project manager (PMP, Prince2) or relevant equivalent experience

  • Experience of promoting and working in collaboration with both technical teams and other non-technical disciplines.

  • Substantial experience of working in environments such as shipbuilding, classification societies, ship operators, technical suppliers, engineering firms or similar industries (such as oil and gas) in an influential position.

  • Detailed and thorough knowledge of naval architecture or offshore energy/marine engineering/electrical engineering or safety systems and their application to cruise ship design and construction.

  • Substantial experience of technological development in capex intensive industries in a maritime environment (shipbuilding, oil and gasfields development, marine renewable development projects) dealing with large, complex and high value assets is desirable but not essential.
