Description

Overview: The specialist/senior specialist, public relations is responsible for identifying opportunities to execute internal and external corporate public relations programs to enhance Abiomed’s mission of heart recovery, sustain its Patients First culture, and contribute to continuous business growth. This person will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and collaborate with the global communication team.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the senior manager of public relations and the global communication team on overarching corporate communication strategy, including helping to develop core content and programs suitable for Japan.

  • Plan communications strategies and implementation tactics.

  • Communicate clearly and allocate responsibilities to cross functional team members as instructed by the supervisor.

  • Protect and enhance Abiomed’s reputation and contribute to continuous business growth.

  • Collaborate with the global communication team to support global communication priorities.

  • Take an initiative in internal and external communication activities, such as all-employee meetings, the company website/intranet, press releases, media interviews and press events, in alignment with global communication strategies.

  • Build relationships with patients and help them share their stories of heart recovery internally and externally and implement patient advocacy activities and events.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Public relations/public affairs/communication experience, skill and creativity in an international corporate communications function or at a PR agency for at least three years. Healthcare PR is a plus.

  • English & Japanese skills: Reading, writing, and speaking – fluency required.

  • Strong commitment to expected outcome.

  • Knowledge of the media and advocacy.

  • Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines and manage projects independently.
