You will have responsibility for leading the technical excellence and performance of the drainage business. You will work in collaboration with the Drainage Lead and wider water leadership team to establish future growth potential, technical excellence and people development. A typical working week would include:

  • Leading the technical excellence of the drainage team delivering a broad range of drainage solutions for a diversity of clients and sectors

  • Contributing to the bidding process and supporting the Drainage Lead on work winning, bidding and business development, with support from the Business Growth team

  • Leading, motivating and developing people through delegation and coordinating training to ensure competencies align with individuals roles

  • Providing coordination with other disciplines, service lines and technical areas, to ensure sharing of best practice, innovation and project delivery skills

  • Supporting cross team collaboration and team/project resourcing

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and actively seek and act upon client feedback to enhance the services we provide and differentiate WSP from the competition in the sectors we operate

Our national sustainable water management team are technical leaders in the sector and foster a proactive, responsible and collaborative work ethic. The successful candidate will become a key part of this team, dedicated to delivering innovative, lasting solutions to the highest profile challenges faced by our clients.

Our clients range from HS2, Network Rail, National Highways and Local Authorities and a lot in-between with our designs ranging from strategy, concept and feasibility to detail design and construction support.

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and/or degree qualifications

  • Excellent people leadership skills and a strong focus on technical excellence

  • A strong understanding of managing large projects and business operations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Demonstrable experience across multiple engineering sectors i.e. Rail, Highways, Aviation, Energy etc

  • Technical experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Highway Drainage

  • Rail Drainage

  • Airport Drainage

  • Asset Management

  • Foul water

  • Sustainable foul and surface water drainage design

  • Drainage modelling software (Causeway Flow or Microdrainage)
