Job Overview

Legal Counsel position is to provide legal support to TE’s Mexican operations. It requires an individual who is a professional and disciplined who possesses independent judgement and initiative, while upholding TE’s core values of integrity, teamwork, accountability and innovation.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Commercial matters: Draft, translate English-Spanish, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including: sales, purchase, vendor, licensing and service agreements.

  • Labor and Employment: provide legal support and counsel to mitigate and resolve disputes, provide trainings and manage outside counsel handling of litigation cases.

  • Policies and Procedures: Research and draft local policies and procedures as needed.

  • Risk assessment: Understand, assess, and provide meaningful risk evaluation and support to TE operations.

  • General Advice: Provide general legal advice to the businesses.

  • Administrative activities: Support with some administrative activities such as reporting, contract, and case management.

  • Compliance: Support compliance initiatives and investigations.

  • Legal audits: Perform audits on commercial, trade and other legal areas.

What your background should look like:

  • Law degree from an accredited Mexican law school and licensed to practice law in Mexico.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a major law firm and/or multinational corporation.

  • REPSE knowledge and experience.

  • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.

  • Managing outside counsel in litigation and other areas.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills English and Spanish.

  • Experience interacting with senior corporate management.

  • Review and approval of business publications and marketing material.

  • Highest degree of personal and professional integrity and ethics.

  • Fluent in English and Spanish.

  • Ability to timely meet deadlines.

  • Strong judgment in assessing risks and ability to effectively convey risk assessments to business leaders.

  • Ability to work as a team member and leader.
