The New York University School of Global Public Health is seeking a Research Project Manager to work directly with faculty researchers and a growing research team on a five-year National Institutes of Health-funded study that will utilize Multiphase Optimization Strategy (MOST) to optimize smoking cessation treatment in HIV clinical care for people living with HIV (PLWH). The intervention will directly target patient barriers to quitting and clinical care barriers to tobacco treatment by optimizing a cost-effective, sustainable and immediately scalable smoking cessation package tailored specifically for the HIV clinical care context.

This position offers competitive pay and excellent benefits. This position requires in-person in-office work, with some remote flexibility allowed. It is not a 100% remote position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Principal Investigator (PI), study Co-Investigators, and other study research staff to implement a randomized controlled trial based on the MOST methodology.

  • Develop project materials, maintain study databases, manage and update IRB approvals, and ensure quality control of all study materials and data collection.

  • Implement the clinical trial protocol with research participants, including recruitment, scheduling, eligibility, screening, enrollment and baseline and follow-up survey assessments. Lead the research team in achieving recruitment, intervention and assessment targets.

  • Oversee NYU-based graduate and undergraduate Research Assistants who will support patient recruitment, scheduling, enrollment, interviews and data management.

  • Manage relationships with project partners, clinics participating in the study and project consultants.

  • Maintain confidential files on study subjects and adhere to all human subjects, IRB and HIPAA protocols.

  • Provide regular project updates to the PI and study team.

  • Organize project-related meetings and assist in project trainings.

  • Work with the PI in overseeing peer mentors involved in the intervention.

  • Conduct administrative tasks as needed, including processing contractor payments, managing study incentives, procuring goods and services and related budget management.

  • Prepare project reports, and contribute to conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications.

  • Assist with additional research activities as they arise.

  • Master’s degree required

  • Project management experience with research studies and randomized clinical trials is required.

  • Excellent organizational and management skills, including study data management skills.

  • Proactive project management and problem-solving orientation.

  • Highly resourceful, adaptable and able to learn new skills, systems and processes quickly.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Experienced with IRB and human subjects’ protocols and procedures required.

  • Experience and facility with REDCap software required.

  • An understanding of and facility with research databases and research data management required.

  • Ability to actively supervise staff, provide constructive feedback and delegate tasks based on staff skills and experience.

  • Strong time management skills.

  • Experience with clinical trials using Multiphase Optimization STrategy (MOST) preferred.

  • Experience working in the areas of tobacco, smoking cessation and/or HIV preferred but not required.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $59,000 - $76,000.
