Job Title: Commercial HVAC Mechanic (SW5)

Job Summary: EMCOR Government Services is looking for a Commercial HVAC Mechanic in Washington, DC . This position is for Air conditioning technicians that possess a thorough knowledge of the inner electrical and refrigeration workings of commercial air conditioning and heating equipment. This position is covered by the CBA for Local 99.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tests electrical components, levels of refrigerants, water flow and other elements needed to ensure proper functions

  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial air conditioning (air cooled or water cooled), ventilation (exhaust and make up air fans) and heating equipment (heat pumps and gas packs) such as package roof top units, ceiling hung equipment, and split systems.

  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair computer room air conditioning equipment (air, water and glycol cooled) including dry-coolers and pump packages, humidification and reheat.

  • Uses various resources available to successfully complete diagnosis and repair such as manufacturers technical support staff, manufacturers technical literature, internet, etc.

  • Requisitions parts, materials and supplies from company approved vendors to successfully complete repairs on his own.

  • Must maintain 16 hours of continuing education annually.

Qualifications:

  • North American Technician Excellence (NATE) HVAC service technician Certification, HVAC Excellence Professional Level Certification or HVACR Master Certification.

  • Needs to know the fundamentals of electrical and refrigeration components at a Journeyman level.

  • Must be analytical and able to diagnose and prevent issues when applicable and explain their findings.

Physical Demands:

The work requires the ability to lift and carry minimum of 50 lbs. to heavy items; to walk, climb stairs and able to work on ladders over 12 feet in length, bend and crouch, and to reach and pull to work on equipment; and to use hands, arms and legs in using the tools and materials of the trade.
